Getting to Nottingham

Nottingham is well served by local and national train companies. Regular services run to Nottingham from London St Pancras (~1 hour 45 mins), Birmingham New Street (~1 hour 15 mins), Leeds (~2 hours), Manchester (~2 hours), and Sheffield (~1 hour), as well as other major cities.

Alternatively, you may wish to travel to Beeston train station, which is 1–2 miles away from University Park campus.

Getting to the University from Nottingham

The University of Nottingham is situated west of the city centre and can be accessed by regular tram and bus services or by taxi.

Tram

You can catch the NET tram at Nottingham Station, as well as stops in the city centre including Lace Market and Old Market Square. Take the service toward Toton Lane and get off at the University of Nottingham stop. The university is north of the tram line.

Bus

Several bus lines run services with stops on or near the University Park campus. These include:

NCT (Nottingham City Transit)

  • Orange 34 Catch it from Broadmarsh Shopping Centre on Colin Street, a few minutes’ walk from Nottingham Station. This service stops on East Drive within the University Park campus, just down the road from the Portland Building and a short walk away from the Lakeside Arts Centre and Museum.
  • Orange 36 Catch it from Victoria Shopping Centre or from Angel Row, both about 10 minutes’ walk from Nottingham Station. Alight at either Uni North Entrance, on the perimeter of the University Park campus.

TrentBarton

  • Indigo Catch it from the Broadmash Bus Station, a few minutes’ walk from Nottingham Station. Alight at South Entrance, just around the corner from the Lakeside Arts Centre and Museum. For more info, see the Indigo webpage.

Taxi

At the Nottingham train station, take the Station Street exit. The taxi rank is about 600 metres down the street. A single, one-way journey is around £10.

Getting to the University from Beeston

If you are arriving at Beeston train station, you might opt to walk to the university, which should take 20–40 minutes. Alternatively, you can walk into Beeston town centre (5 minutes’ walk) and take the tram to University of Nottingham stop or the Indigo bus to the South Entrance. A taxi rank is also located right outside the train station, and a single, one-way fare will cost about £5.
